Over the Christmas break Year 9 students will be sponsored to read a range of books that have been recommended by the Library and their English teachers. They will be collecting money in aid of CLIC Sargent and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
These charities work with children who are very ill, donating books and resources to hospital libraries, and paying for visitors and authors to go into hospitals to read to children, as well as holding book and storytelling events. The Year 9 Readathon will make a real contribution to these fantastic charities, while also allowing our pupils to indulge in some great books which will broaden their reading habits.
A link to the list of Recommended Reads can be found on the Parent Portal homepage.
The Readathon will run until the first week of the Spring term, with the sponsorship money being collected by Miss Leaphard in the Library between Monday 7th and Monday 14th January.
