Last weekend saw the visit of The Perse and a series of very tough matches for Framlingham College. The 2nd XI went two goals down early and struggled to recover despite the best efforts of the outstanding Hitchcock in goal, the final result of 5-0, a scoreline that became a familiar theme, despite some battling performance from the lower years. The last game of the day saw the 1st XI produce an excellent second half comeback to overturn a 1-0 deficit. The game was short on clear-cut chances with no penalty corners being awarded in the whole match but Framlingham managed to defend hard in the second half, turning the ball over on numerous occasions to set up counter attack chances. Tim Alexander and Antony Youngman has standout performances at the back, with Alex Hearn and Henry Baldwin in the midfield, proving effective. Gareth Obery scored both the Framingham goals in the second half, his pace and energy caused problems and he was well rewarded. The boys should take a moment to reflect that they had two double Olympians, captains of their country, umpiring what was a very entertaining game of hockey, what more can you ask for as an aspiring young hockey player.
